The tradition of marking Paper in Catalonia goes back 800 years and following in this tradition, the Museum continues to make high quality hand-made paper - "Paper de Barba" - using time-honoured methods.
The Capellades Paper Mill Museum was founded in 1958. It is housed in an old 17th C. mill in the small town of Capellades - sixty km. from Barcelona.
Capellades is an important Paper manufacturing centre that reached its maxium splendour during the 18th and 19th Centuries when its Paper became know all over the world.
