This exhibition gathers a series of works that began around 2012 when I decided to go draw at the Bassa d'en Segur-gravera, a pond located in the municipal area of La Roca del Vallès, fed by the waters of the Mogent, with agricultural use and also serving as an attractive space for locals, turning it into a recreational environment. This dual practical and leisure use is a shared characteristic with the Bassa located next to this building, which supplied the so-called "Molí de la Vila".

Displaying a portion of these works in a space like the main hall of the Paper Mill Museum of Capellades is very rewarding, as my artistic practice is fundamentally based on drawing on paper. This choice is related to the creative process itself, which is essential in my work.

Drawing allows me to reduce the distance that the construction of an image implies. I could say that it allows me to feel the touch, to be physically very close. It also allows me to make erasing a significant action, diversifying the semantic values that the white of the paper can adopt. In this sense, the image is not the result of execution, it is not the result of a projection; it is the fruit of a conversation in which I always lag behind. That's why drawing always starts with a random spot, without a preconceived image. It unfolds.

The Bassa invites us to sit and look, it is a place open to enjoyment, to beauty, an invitation to slow down, to reach a state of contemplation, to overcome will and desire, which are the drivers of time and consumption. It facilitates an interruption that liberates us.

These drawings show the process of seeking a place that is not actually physical, a place that is related to beauty and that allows us to slow down our gaze, to direct it.

Drawing at the Bassa is a way of concretizing this sense and the value of what it means to live as a human being. The way our consciousness is concretized.
